Free up time for managers
Artificial intelligence (AI) is coming into the fleet management as in many other areas. For software publishers, it not only makes it possible to offer advanced functionalities, but above all to process an ever increasing volume of data.
“Above all, it's to free up time for fleet managers,” says one publisher. The aim is to enable them to focus on strategic decisions, such as choosing new models or supporting drivers.
Cyril Englert, fleet manager at Pharmafield (230 vehicles), confirms: “Human contact remains important. Even with digital media, our drivers continue to call.” The commissioning of their management software did not prevent the hiring of an assistant to manage daily requests.
Optimize data analysis
For Géraud Portu (GAC Technology), AI should not replace humans, but assist them: “Our approach is to save time, not to take the place of men.” At GAC, AI is used to create business intelligence tools, detect inconsistent data and improve fleet visualization.
The GAC Car Fleet software thus processes data from a Data Lake : mileages, contracts, invoices, alerts engine, etc. The AI draws essential information from it to make concrete recommendations.
“For example, it makes it possible to automatically correct inaccurate or erroneous mileage readings”, he explains.
Towards operational AI
At Optixt (publisher of Winflotte), Pascal Merle explains that algorithms are used to make the data entered during refueling more reliable: “We use AI to identify and correct input errors.” This makes it possible to improve the accuracy of driving projections.
Another evolution: chatbots integrated into management software. These interfaces allow managers to ask questions in natural language to get recommendations on vehicle renewal, maintenance costs, etc.
Daniel Vassallucci, CEO of Optimum Automotive, indicates that this feature is available as an add-on, at €1 or €1.50 per month. At Optimum, AI processes data from Data hub central, which brings together telematic data as well as contractual or service provider information.
In summary:
• AI is not intended to replace humans, but to optimize time-consuming tasks
• It makes it possible to make critical data reliable (mileages, costs, maintenance)
• More and more intelligent interfaces facilitate access to information
