Banque Popolale du Sud: the fleet is electrified with Optimum Consulting
In 2022, the Banque Popolale du Sud (BPS) undertook an important step to electrify its car fleet, which at the time consisted of 263 vehicles, 98% of which were diesel. To carry out this project, the banking group relied on Optimum Consulting, the consulting branch of the telematics specialist Optimum Automotive.
This fleet, used by more than 2,000 employees, including company cars, service cars and carsharing vehicles, required a partial renewal of 114 vehicles. Optimum Consulting's mission was to carry out a comprehensive analysis in order to identify which vehicles were eligible for electrification and to assess the costs associated with their integration.
The project also aimed to anticipate the needs for charging infrastructure, in particular in terms of the number and power of charging stations, in compliance with current regulations, such as the Mobility Orientation Act and low-emission mobility zones (ZFe-m). This approach was also part of the group's ambitious CSR strategy, which is even more stringent.
To do this, Optimum Consulting analyzed in detail the data of 114 vehicles concerned, representing approximately 2.4 million kilometers driven. Among the parameters studied were driving times, mileages, stopping times and the location of parking lots.
Using specialized algorithms, the consultant delivered a precise analysis to identify which vehicles could be electrified and those for which it was not compatible, with detailed explanations.
In addition, Optimum Consulting provided an accurate assessment of the number of charging points needed, as well as the optimal locations to install these infrastructures.
Finally, among the electric models available on the market, the consultant selected those with a total cost of ownership (TCO) as close as possible to that of the combustion vehicles replaced, over the expected duration of ownership.
