Eco-driving can be taught in one day

Internships exist to improve consumption and assess progress.

Reduce the risk of accidents, waste less fuel in order to limit pollution and save money. These are the big ones

promises of eco-driving, which proposes to adopt new reflexes behind the wheel. One day is usually enough to assimilate them, estimates ADEME (Agency for Ecological Transition) in its guide for businesses. A formula, offered by the French Driving School, begins with an observation course behind the wheel, accompanied by the instructor. The aim is both to identify behaviors to be improved and to assess fuel consumption.

The internship continues with the acquisition of theoretical bases: the aim is to ensure the condition of the vehicle - in particular, the tire pressure - and to adopt a more flexible driving style, based on foresight and better management of reports speed, to get used to driving easily in fifth at 50 kilometers per hour in the city, for example. A second course aims to put this learning into practice, by measuring the impact on fuel consumption.

In order to permanently anchor these new automations, a connected box can be embedded in the vehicle. “It measures braking, acceleration and cornering to assign an eco-index, a score that evaluates driver behavior,” explains Franck Gaultier, spokesperson for the telematics company Optimum Automotive, which has just joined forces with Codes Rousseau: the objective is to train companies. Thanks to the data provided by the box, the driver can thus measure his progress behind the wheel.
