Shiftmove, which claims to be the German market leader in fleet management software, has acquired the French company Optimum Automotive.

A French platform expert in fleet management Joins a European leader

The Aix-en-Provence digital platform, Optimum Automotive, is one of the main experts in fleet software management in France, with more than 7,500 customers and 200,000 managed vehicles. This acquisition by Shiftmove, a Berlin-based software as a service (SaaS) company founded in 2023 from the merger of market leaders Avrios and Vimcar, marks its development in France, the largest fleet market in Europe. According to Shiftmove, this acquisition promotes the consolidation and digitization of the European market for fleet management.

Objective: to become a European leader by 2027

Thanks to its expansion strategy, Shiftmove aims to become the European market leader in digital solutions for fleet management by 2027 and to make the use of more than one million commercial vehicles even more efficient.

AI and telematics for more efficient management

The combination of global software and telematics solutions from Shiftmove, based in Berlin, allows small, medium and large businesses — such as DB Schenker, McMakler, and taschenpost.de — to manage their fleet more economically and decisively, while advancing the transformation towards low-emission mobility.

With the acquisition of Optimum Automotive, Shiftmove also wants to bring its expertise in artificial intelligence to France. By automating previously tedious processes and offering detailed data analysis, businesses can use modern solutions to save costs and resources, and plan their transition to alternative engines.

A French market with high digitization potential

Francine Gervazio, CEO of Shiftmove, explains: “With around ten million commercial vehicles, France is the largest fleet market in Europe, closely followed by Germany with more than seven million. The potential for digitization in industry is immense. Today, only one European company out of three uses software from fleet management for its own fleet.”

She also recalls that fleets are important technological drivers: private vehicles are replaced on average every eleven years, while fleets are renewed every three to four years, which is an excellent opportunity to accelerate the transition to electromobility.

Increased pressure on businesses: sustainability and cost control

The pressure on businesses is strong. Francine Gervazio points out that ever more stringent environmental requirements, combined with rising fuel, insurance and repair costs, require swift action. The aim is to simplify and optimize the fleet management to increase competitiveness while promoting the sustainable transformation of the transport sector.

Strengthened synergy to serve more than 18,000 customers

Daniel Vassallucci, CEO and founder of Optimum Automotive, says: “The acquisition by Shiftmove allows Optimum Automotive to accelerate its growth, with the ambition of becoming the European leader in holistic telematics and software solutions for corporate fleets. Our complementary offerings make it possible to offer a solid solution to our more than 18,000 customers combined.”

The two companies combined employ more than 350 employees and support more than 18,000 corporate customers with more than 550,000 vehicles. User sectors include construction, on-site technical services, health, manufacturing, and administration.

Shiftmove's main investor is Battery Ventures, a global investment firm based in Boston, United States.
