REPORT — PCE SERVICES

PCE Services: A fully equipped fleet

While PCE Services created its management service and launched the greening of its fleet, the company did not forget to equip its drivers with appropriate tools. They can thus use a QR code to track vehicles, and an application with a wide range of functionalities, in addition to the classic management and telematics tools.

This year, the PCE Services fleet department implemented several systems to improve and simplify the management of its 303 vehicle fleet. For example, in collaboration with the communication and marketing department, the fleet department has developed a QR code.

“For drivers, the communication team created informative guides on the Intranet. All the information related to each rental company has been grouped together and is accessible with this QR code (interviews, tire changes, etc.). Indeed, we printed stickers with the QR code to affix them to the windshields of all vehicles since last May,” explains Damien Fauriat.

A QR code to better inform

By scanning this QR code, the driver can access a driver's guide that tells him about the procedures for his rental company: steps to follow in the event of a disaster or breakdown, numbers to call, steps to take in the event of an accident, instructions for changing tires, etc.

“In the past, drivers routinely contacted us by email or phone to get this information. Now, they are more autonomous and responsible, while knowing that we remain at their disposal if necessary. In addition, we have the possibility to update the information contained in the QR code in real time. We are even considering offering advice on driving electric vehicles with videos,” anticipates Damien Fauriat.

For its part, the software of Fleet Management by Optimum Automotive offers drivers access to vehicle information through a Mobile app dedicated. With this app, drivers can monitor their vehicle in detail, including Geolocation, mileage, eco-driving information, fuel level and maintenance deadlines.

An App for Drivers

“In addition, the application makes it possible to carry out an inventory of the vehicle at any time, during an accident, a change of vehicle or at the time of leaving the company”, illustrates Damien Fauriat.

PCE Services has also integrated all the vehicle registration cards and insurance certificates for each vehicle into this app. “Employees who do not have their physical vehicle registration document can therefore present it with their phone. Our objective was to simplify the procedures for our employees, while facilitating our own administrative management,” notes Damien Fauriat.

With its tool of Fleet Management, PCE Services also plans to launch eco-driving challenges this year. “The objective is to designate the most efficient driver in terms of safety, consumption and reduction of CO2 emissions. Currently, we are in the testing phase with our company cars, and we intend to extend this initiative to our service vehicles. This challenge aims to help us assess the need to provide drivers with training or to provide preventive advice, in particular for electric and hybrid vehicles,” Damien Fauriat projects.

TELEMATICS — BETTER MONITORING OF CLAIMS

Since May 2023, PCE Services has been working with the consulting firm La Vie Routière (LVR Fleet) as part of a one-year contract aimed at improving its claims rate.

“For each accident, our employees register their claim on the platform jeemonaccidents .com, attaching the photos and the necessary information. All the data collected is transmitted to LVR Fleet, which follows the disaster and contacts the driver for a post-accident report: how did the incident occur, what are the reasons for it, how could it have been avoided? We take care of the management of the claim with the insurance companies”, explains Damien Fauriat.

Before establishing this external disaster monitoring, PCE Services had “a high accident rate, mainly due to the intensive use of its construction vehicles, which are often subject to difficult conditions. Since the implementation of this improved monitoring, we have already observed a decrease in this disaster rate”, estimates Damien Fauriat.

Finally, PCE Services also equips its vehicles with telematic boxes. “These devices offer the possibility of remotely monitoring the mileage covered by our vehicles, i.e. an average of 2.641 km per month. Telematics also plays an essential role in geolocating our vehicles if necessary, collecting data relating to driving (consumption, sharp turns, sudden braking, etc.), and therefore evaluating the eco-responsible behavior of drivers. This global monitoring applies to the entire fleet, and to the individual behavior of each driver,” explains Damien Fauriat.
